Valid U.S. passport
Current, undamaged passport with two blank visa pages.
Signed and valid for six months from your departure date.
Non-US passport holders present a green card at submission as proof of legal residence (it is not kept).

Copy of valid identification
The address on your driver's license must match your application.
If it does not match, include a copy of a major utility bill (water, power, or sewage).

Copy of flight itinerary
Include a copy of your flight itinerary or ticket if you have one.
If you do not have a travel itinerary or ticket, that is okay.

Passport photo services are available in our office.
2 by 2 inches on a white background, no older than one month.

Minors under 18
Copy of the birth certificate.
Copy of each parent's passport information page or driver's license.
Minors not traveling with both parents need a notarized consent signed by the non-accompanying parent or guardian authorizing the consulate to issue the visa.

What documents do I need for a China tourist visa?
You need a completed COVA application, valid U.S. passport with two blank pages, copy of valid ID with matching address, copy of flight itinerary, and visa photos. We check every document against the consulate rules before we submit.
Can I walk in to apply for a China visa in Chicago?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome at our Chicago office 6 days a week. Call (708) 360-7277 first and we will tell you exactly what to bring based on your visa type.
Can I apply for a China visa by mail?
Yes. Fill out the service order form, send it with your documents, and we handle the consulate submission for you.
What is the consulate fee for a China visa?
The consulate fee is $165 for regular and $185 for rush (12 months, multiple entry). Our expedite service fee is $199 for express (10 to 14 days) or $249 for rush (5 to 7 days). FedEx return is optional and starts at $38.
What if I lost my previous China visa?
Download and fill out the Lost China Visa Form, then bring it with your application. If the consulate asked you to complete a travel-history supplementary form, use the China Supplementary Form instead. Both are available on this page.
